Commission Process
Step 1
The aim of the first step is to agree in outline:
- The design brief
- The budget
- The timescale
Together with any other special requirements you may have.
Step 2
Design brief
The brief is discussed with you in detail with a view to interpreting
your hopes for the design. These discussions ideally take place at the
proposed site of the commission to enable us to get a feel for the intended
surroundings of the commission.
Your thoughts and aspirations for the commission are important to us and we will work hard to ensure that they are taken into account in the development of the design. The aim is to produce a design document accurately reflecting the finished commission.
We at Sculpsteel believe that the finish of our work is just as important as the design on paper and where appropriate, or where requested we are more than happy to provide examples of materials and finishes.
Budget
Each commission is broken down into various cost elements, including
design, materials, manufacturing, transportation and installation.
Each element of cost is given careful consideration to ensure that your expectations in terms of the quality of the commission are exceeded with your budgetary requirements.
Timescale
We at Sculpsteel believe that it is essential to work within a timetable
that is satisfactory to you. Timescales will be discussed and agreed
with you.
Step 3
Expansion of design
Having established your requirements in the early stages the Expansion
of Design step enables us to develop a detailed design which is capable
of manufacture.
Throughout this step we will cross reference against our original specification to ensure that we continue to meet your brief. At this stage we will also liaise with architects, builders and other relevant parties to ensure that all interface details have been finalized.
This stage also involves liaison with our team of quality subcontracting partners with expertise in areas such as laser profile cutting, shot blasting and timber engineering if appropriate.
Step 4
Commission Specific Summary
On completion of the design Sculpsteel will send you a Commission
Specific Specification Summary for your final approval. This contains:
- An outline of your brief
- Material and construction specification
- Design visuals of the commission
On receipt of your approval we enter the manufacturing stage.
Step 5
Manufacture
To ensure our quality and workmanship is of the highest standard
we at Sculpsteel ensure that all commissions are fully assembled in
our workshop prior to installation at their intended site. The quality
of assembly and finish is confirmed. Where appropriate we will also
work with our subcontracting partners at this stage to ensure that every
detail is as it should be prior to the commission leaving the workshop.
Step 6
Installation
An essential part of the design process is aimed at ensuring that
the commission can be installed in the safest and most efficient way
so as to minimize the chance of any disruption occurring during installation.
